Sunny Days, Easter and a Little Blue Chair

Phew, Portland finally gave us a warm sunny break from winter. Things are blooming, the air smells like warm flowers instead of cold dew, and our house is getting a much-needed air-out.

Astoria and Spring Skirts

Finally, FINALLY, Brad has weekends off so we can relax and see each other. To celebrate, we drove out of town to Astoria and stayed in an adorable bed and breakfast.

All packed!

Another crochet project

So recently I decided I needed a footstool. I'd been scouring the local Goodwills (there are quite a few in Portland) with no luck. Eventually, I decided to stop in a consignment shop on MLK called Reviva, where, outside, I found a simple, though 70's-revival-ugly footstool.

Since I have been crocheting my little heart out on my blanket, I decided to attempt a cover for my stool. Considering I made up how to make this round, I think its coming out quite well ---look out for a picture of a finished project soon!

Beer and movies keep me craftin'

Sadly, another project of mine has seen little attention in nearly a year. My visual diary, which I hoped to completely fill before I leave this city, has been quite ignored. Hopefully I will return to it soon.

Winter continues

Sweater: thrited old navy
Dress: H&M
Socks: sock dreams (though mine are wool)

Winter continues, but I am coping better. I'm drinking more tea than ever, working on that crochet blanket every night (while watching Downton Abbey), and reading again. I woke up to a bright window this morning --- not from sun, but from snow. It has since melted, but the snow always makes winter seem more bearable.

One dissapointment: although I love my sewing machine very much, I am sad that it is unwilling to sew through elastic and two layers of fabric without jamming up. I am trying to repair a dress with a waist that is just an inch or two too small, and my little green machine has foiled my plans. I may take the oh-so-tedious hand-sewing route...

Last night Brad, our roommate Spencer, and I went to Sky High Sports (we didn't end up going for Valentine's) and did some leaping for leap day. Though the $10 is a little steep, I'd suggest anyone go.

How I Fill My Days

Though I still feel like I am just WAITING for the next thing, I am still managing to fill my days with some fun. Last Friday we decided to have some friends over for a dinner party. I don't take pictures during socializing, so this is all I have:

Brad and I:

Dress: Volcom from Buffalo Exchange in Tucson
Cardigan: Target
Belt: Red Fox Vintage on Killingsworth
Tights: F21
Shoes: thrifted "Naturalizer"

I've also been working on some projects, one of which is a ridiculously time-consuming crochet blanket:

It probably won't be done before the cold is gone, but at least the texture is coming out pretty neat. I'm using a double cluster shell stich (I think).
